Exercise – The Story of Your Name

Topic Progress:

This exercise is to familiarise yourself with the technical function of the website. You can complete the MAP at Home exercises in a group (if the research project is being conducted in a classroom or health centre) or individually if you are completing the units independently. Please feel free to adapt the exercises so they are most useful to you or your group.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Think about your name. Where does your name come from? Do you have a nickname? Does your name follow a family tradition? Do you share your name with anyone else? Do you have a story related to how and why you were given your name?

It’s fine if you don’t know the story of your name. This might be something that you might want to research by conducting a search on the internet, or asking a member of your family or community. Also,  by going through this exercise you might learn about the names of others.

Take two minutes to write down the story of your name.

You can take a picture of your story with your mobile phone or record an audio recording of you sharing your story. Please upload the audio file or picture of your story.
